Eco labels awarded to Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa and The H Resort Vallon Beach Seychelles.

The Tourism Department has awarded the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label (SSTL) to another two hotel establishments.=

Representatives of Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa and The H Resort Vallon Beach, received their SSTL certificates from the hands of the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Didier Dogley.

This was during a short ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters, at Botanical House, Mont Fleuri.

This was in the presence of the Tourism Department’s Principal Secretary, Anne Lafortune, and Director of Product Development, Sinha Levkovic.

Minister Dogley expressed his contentment at the increasing number of hotels displaying their commitment towards the sustainable tourism initiative.

“We live in an era where people have become very conscious about the environment, travellers are on the lookout to associate themselves with sustainable service provider. While the department is doing an excellent job at raising awareness in regards to the importance of sustainability in the tourism industry there is much work to convince even the smallest establishments to join the cause,” said Minister Dogley.

He also commended the work that has been accomplished so far by some industry stakeholders in applying ecological principles through the SSTL certification.

Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label (SSTL) certificates are awarded to hotels after they are found to be integrating sustainability practices in their business operations. To date, 17 hotels have obtained the SSTL certification
